Begining in Shoden, the first level, you learn how to release and to recognzie the feel of inharmonic and harmonic vibrations. As soon as you receive your first empowerment (attunement) froma qualified Usui Reiki Shihan you become the vessel/flute/hollow tube/instrument through which universsal love and harmony flows. The following empowermentsw in each level (as per Japanese tradition) and the exercises teach you how to cleanse your mind, body and spirit, but there is no waiting a certain length of time before you are able to allow balance and harmony to flow to another life form.

If you or anyone you know has ever split firewood you some pieces easily split and some might require more additional energy then you have. The pieces of wood with knots of other blocks within them are those hard to split pieces, but those without any blocks seem to begin spliting the second the ax hits. Symbols and such training tools can form little knots when you are focused on which to use for what is wrong with a person or other life form. Roberta teaches how to let go and simply focus on well-being so that universal slides easily through cells breaking up any inharmonic vibrations, creating balance and surrounding with harmony.

Learning Gendai Reiki-ho or Komyo Reiki Kai is a way to uncover and inspire your authentic talents -- the true universal you. While Hiroshi Doi-Sensei does not share what goes on within the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, Gendai Reiki-Ho is a style of Usui Reiki approved of by the Gakkai.

The spiritual practices of Gendai Reiki-ho andKomyo Reiki treat the whole person, with the focus being on well-being. A line from the movie Patch Adams summarizes this, “You treat the disease you win or loose, you treat the whole person and you win every time no matter what the outcome.”

Japanese styles of Usui Reiki are complementary to modern medical science and all other positive healing modalities.

Gendai Reiki-ho and Komyo Reiki are commonly called Japanese Reiki because they come directly from Japan without having other systems blended into them. Because they have not been altered, they will not cause any harm to mind, body or spirit of any life form.

The levels in Reiki Training are taken consecutively, the same as the rungs on a ladder. Imagine climbing a ladder by having both feet on two rungs at a time. For each level following Shoden a certificate(s) for the level(s) preceding must be shown; Roberta accepts certificates from any other qualified Usui Reiki Shihan (teacher).

Following are brief descriptions of each level. Contact Roberta Barnes for more and information and to register for all classes. Registration with a $50 non-refundable deposit is required for all levels. The fees listed below can change without noification, so please check when registering.

This level/degree is a powerful beginning on your Usui Reiki Ryoho journey. It is reflected in Roberta Barnes’ article “It may appear small, but it is powerful”.

If you are a massage therapist ou recevie an extra benefit from studying with Roberta R. Barnes. She is approved by the National Certification Board for therapeutic Massage & Body work (NCBTMB) as a Continuing Education Approved Provider.

The purposes of this level/degree are to open your path to universal energy, personal growth, self-healing, and self-cleansing. When you are in balance and surrounded by harmony your life's path is smoother as all around you is touched in a positive way. You learn about Mikao Usui's first awakening -- once you accept the present you know you have the power to change making your life the best for you each day in every way.

Reiki begins flowing as soon as your pathway to the universe has been opened by the empowerments (attunements), but that is only the beginning. Japanese techniques (as learend direclty under Japanese Shihans who have only 2 Shihans between themselves and Mikao Usui) span from cleansing & activating your chakras, to filling all your cells and surrounding you with the pure white light of the universe. In-between that is much more to help you resonate with the form of universal energy called Usui Reiki, and learn how not to taint the universal love and harmony flowing through you.

As per Japanese tradition, Roberta gives multiple empowerments to insure each person's pathway is clear to the vibrations of universal energy you are opened to in this level. As with any empowerment (attunement) the first can only be temporary.

Roberta allows enough days between classes so that you can assimilate the peaceful revitalizing universal energy that is new to you.

One focus in this level/degree is developing Hibiki and Byosen, so that you will not be restricted in allowing Reiki to flow in the best way. You are given a custom 72 page Shoden manual containing the many exercises and meditations, to refer back to after classes.

This is a $160.00 investment that you make in you, which touches all areas of you life.

The first two levels/degrees of Gendai Reiki-ho and Komyo Reiki Kai are offered often enough, so that you do not have to move on to the next level before you have had time to practice, and resonate with the portion of universal unconditonal love and harmony to which you have been opened.

This level/degree takes you deeper inside, as you learn to bring all the energies best represented by all the energies connected with the earth, moon, and sun into your daily practice of Reiki. The homeostasis of your whole self now changes to a higher vibration.

This level/degree is often thought of as psychological and emotional healing. When Roberta wrote, “The past cannot be changed, but today can” her focus was on this level.

The purposes of this level/degree are to improve the quality of one’s ability to allow Reiki to flow and transcend space and time. Byosen Reikan-ho and other such techniques are gone into in depth.

Reiki symbols and corresponding kotodamas/jumons are taught at this level/degree to point to the additional cords you are now opened to within the vibrations of love and harmony. The exercises learned in Shoden are reviewed, and you find you can go deeper now that your pathway is opened wider allowing more of the universal vibrations of love and harmony to flow through you. In this level/degree you experience new ways to allow universal energy to flow over time and distance.

This level is filled with smiles as you continue on your journey of personnel growth that can touch others in a positive way. It includes instruction and exercises broken down into two or three classes, multiple empowerments (attunements), Reiju, an Okuden or Chuden manual, and certificate of completion

This is a $245.00 investment you make in going deeper into universal love and harmony.

A certificate for completion of Level One is required for this level. If you have a certificate in a style of Usui Reiki Ryoho other than Gendai Reiki-Ho some Shoden material must be added, increasing the fee to $285.00.

This is the level/degree of deep spiritual growth, which was once called the secret level. In this level/degree, you go in very deeply as your pathway is opened even wider. The symbol, commonly called master symbol, is taught in this level. Exercises and techniques are taught to allow you to expand your personal growth and to transcend the use of all symbols and all other training wheels/pointers that you may have gathered.

Advanced exercises include cleansing negative karma that may have become stuck within you, are practiced in class. You are given guidelines to be one with the rhythm of the universe.

The goal is to connect with the higher consciousness in the highest dimension where anger and fretful worry do not exist. This level/degree translates as secret, and in those early years when Usui Reiki Ryoho was first developing it was extremely difficult for anyone to reach this level. The second level/degree had sub-levels, which many found difficult to complete.

Doi-Sensei commented that more people today are able to connect to the highest dimensions then in prior times because at this time in history the need for balance and harmony is great. Doi-Sensei also said about the practice of Gendai Reiki-ho, “You come to know why you exist at this time and in this place, and your roll will be made clear”.

In this level/degree you see clearly that Usui Reiki Ryoho is not a series of attunements, but a journey toward perpetually being filled with peace, tranquility, and joy. Exercises also include those allowing you to connect with the vibrations of those in the higher dimensions and your higher-self.

This level/degree includes twelve or more hours of instruction, exercises, multiple empowerments (attunements), Gendai Reiju, level three manual, and certificate of completion. The prerequisit for this level is certificates of completion level two/second degree in Gendai Reiki-Ho, Komyo Reiki Kai --$300.00.

If you have completed Level 2 in another style honoring Usui Reiki Ryoho you can still take this level, but more instruction will be required, increasing the fee to $445.00.

Young people easily open to Reiki, making everything they do in life easier. This level is tailored to the age of that child or group of children learning at that time. This style is based on Gendai Reiki-ho, Komyo Reiki Kai, and Western styles of Usui Reiki . Reiki cannot be directed and symbols have no power, so the open minds of children are sometimes more accepting of forms of universal energy, then adults.

This is basic study which includes only one empowerment/attunement and only 4 hours of instruction done in one class. The young person’s pathway is opened, but not all the exercises for self-growth, etc. given in Shoden are included. A parent or parent approved adult must accompany the child.

This inclues a minimum of 4 hours of basic instruction and exercises, only one attunement, basic Reiki manual, and certificate of completion -- $115.00 and $95.00 for children age nine and under. The first class of a parent's Shoden level can be combined with a child's Pre-Shoden level and then package pricing applies.

There are two purposes for completing this level. The first purpose is to complete the circle allowing for continued personal growth. The second purpose is wanting to be able to teach Gendai Reiki-ho as Hiroshi Doi created or Komyo Reiki Kai as Rev. Hyakuten Inamoto created, with no alterations. Both Gendai Reiki-ho and Komyo Reiki are spiritual practices as Mikao Usui intended.

The prerequisite for this level is either a certificate of completion of Shinpiden in Gendai Reiki-ho, or Okuden in Komyo Reiki Kai (third level/degree),

Doi-Sensei said, “It is more proper to call it a training course for Reiki teachers than another step.” You should have already learned to transcend symbols and other such supports prior to beginning this level.

At this level you do not “do” Reiki, you have the goal of becoming Reiki for personal growth. There are no known recorded documents of anyone reaching this goal, but each step of the journey is blissful. Usui Mikao in his humbleness rated himself as a two rather then a one even though he was described as a furnace of energy; since that time no one in the Gakkai has rated themself higher then a three.

This includes many hours of instruction and exercises, empowerments, Reiki Shihan manual, and completion certificate. Certificate for Level I, Level II and Level III are required before taking this level -- $895.00

For those having completed levels one, two, and three in styles honoring Usui Reiki Ryoho
other then Gendai Reiki-ho or Komyo Reiki the fee is $995.00.

This is Gendai Reiju and not the Reiju that the society Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai currently uses or has used in the past. Reiju used within the Gakkai is shared with members of the Gakkai only.

The prerequisite for this workshop is to have completed the highest level in Gendai Reiki-ho or Komyo Reiki, and spent time practicing. Reiju was the term used at one time as the way in which people were originally opened to the universal vibrations of love and harmony. Empowerment in Komyo Reiki Kai are sometimes called Reiju.

Gendai Reiju is not an empowerment (attunement). It is a very strong and focused form of Reiki, which has varying uses depending upon the Reiki Shihan using it.

No training wheels/supports such as symbols or kotodamas are used. At gatherings it is customary for a Reiki Shihan to give Reiju to all those attending; this clears any blocks that may have formed in one's channel and is a wonderful rejuvenating energy flowing through the whole you. A person will never loose his or her connection to Reiki, but things such as the ego can form blocks that can either reduce the strength or taint the universal energy flowing through our pathway/channel.

Reiju is a technique of Usui Reiki Ryoho that has a unique history, which is shared at the workshop.

	Meditation offers you the opportunity to gain perception and wisdom in the inner calm. Peace through Meditation is for people beginning meditation and those that have let their daily meditatoin slip. Roberta also offered classes in outward meditation, sometimes referred to as channeling. In each class she gives guided meditations that are right for the people in that class at that time. 	Roberta holds various workshops during the year, such as Raising Your Vibration for anyone having completed a level in Usui Reiki. In the warmer months of the year, a Connecting with Nature workshop is offered in the area surrounding the Natural Healing Center.
	Guided meditation Journeys into Your Past take you into forgotten times in your current life or in past lives, depending upon your beliefs. These are useful healing tools in changing how you view the past in order to heal the present. These are also often done for self-discovery.
